The Technique was developed by Thomas Ambrose Bowen in his clinic in Geelong, Victoria, Australia over a period of several years until he died in 1982.
Tom Bowen devoted his lifetime to developing this technique having no therapeutic background whatsoever. It was while he was working at the Geelong Cement works that he started to work on people with job related injuries. He had an uncanny ability to read bodies and correct and adjust abnormalities with minimum intervention.
The results of his treatments spoke for themselves, the word spread quickly and people travelled far distances to receive treatments in his later clinic. In an official inquiry into Alternative Health care professionals in 1973 Tom Bowen said that all he had learned was self taught and gave evidence that he was seeing some 13,000 patients per year which was simply remarkable.
After Bowen’s death in 1982 Oswald Rentsch started teaching his interpretations of the technique after having been invited by Tom Bowen to study with him and document his work. Oswald and his wife Elaine Rentsch are still travelling the world, teaching his moves and spreading the legacy of Tom Bowen.
Instructions & training methodology have only been delivered outside Australia since 1986, resulting in over 20,000 practitioners in over 30 countries worldwide. The therapy was first brought to England in 1992.
